WELCOME TO THE WEST NYACK SWIM & TENNIS CLUB!
The following Rules and Regulations are for the benefit of all members. They were established to ensure safe operation of the pools and other facilities. Parents must caution their children to observe all the rules, and to obey all instructions of the manager and staff. Every member should consider the Club his own and act with propriety at all times.
Take pride in our Club: always leave the area you use a little nicer than you found it. The staff is not expected to clean up after our members.
West Nyack is a family oriented club for the use and enjoyment by its entire membership. Any type of use of the Club’s name or its facilities for personal, private, political, religious, financial or business gain is strictly prohibited. Solicitation is also not permitted.

TENNIS
Court Manners: Court etiquette is simply common sense and consideration of others. Players should keep in mind the various actions that constitute such etiquette. (E.g., entrance onto courts only when play has ceased; return of balls to neighboring courts; not standing, sitting or walking behind a court while play is going on; curtailment of excessive noise, keeping the courts clear of all litter.) Parents are responsible for the safety and conduct of children at court side with special care exercised to see that other players are not distracted.
Attire
1. Tennis shoes or sneakers and socks must be worn at all
times. Bare feet or street shoes are prohibited.
2. Proper tennis clothes, either white or colored, are required. Cut-offs and swim wear are prohibited.
Court Use
1. During the Club season, hours are 8 AM to dusk. Attendants will be on duty beginning at 8 AM. At this time water, bathroom facilities and the reservation desk will be available. At all other times' keys may be used to enter the courts.
2. Membership cards must be presented before play.
3. Courts are controlled by the Pro and the court monitors.
4. Players under 16 years of age will have full court privileges on weekdays, except holidays. At all other times, unless playing with an adult, juniors are required to relinquish the court to waiting adults or adults with junior partners.
5. Non members are not allowed to take lessons from the Club Pros.
Scheduling and Reservations
1. Play time is limited to 1 hour for singles and 1½ hours for doubles. Courts do not change on the hour, but 1 hour or 1½ hours from the time when play commences. Doubles play is strongly encouraged when the courts are crowded, especially between the hours of Noon to 4 PM on weekends and holidays (Prime Time).
2. The Pro has the authority to limit doubles play to 1 hour on busy days or weekends. You will be notified before entering the courts if you are scheduled to play for 1 hour.
3. All courts will be assigned by the Pro or the tennis monitors. At the time the court is reserved, or at least 1 hour prior to the reserved court becoming available, all players using that court must be listed on the sign-up sheet or the court may be reassigned. Each person on the court will be considered to have used their reservation privilege for that day. The court register and sign-up sheets will be under the supervision of the Tennis Pro and will be utilized at all times.
4. Only one reservation per family adult member may be made for any day. Remember, each player on the reserved court will be considered to have used their reservation for that day.
5. Reservations may only be made in person and may not be made by telephone.
6. Reservations may be made only on the day of play!
7. Any reserved court must have player(s) at the reservation desk at designated time of play. Ten minutes after the scheduled time of play, the court may be reassigned.
8. A reserved court may be used only by the member(s) for whom it was reserved. You may not make a reservation for a court on which you will not be playing, except for a spouse being permitted to make reservations for his/her spouse. However, the court may only be used by the spouse for whom it has been reserved.
9. WAIT LIST COURTS: When the courts are all in use a wait list will be started. If you wish to play, have your name put on the wait list. Thirty minutes before a court becomes free it will be assigned. If your name is assigned to a court you have 15 minutes to accept the court. If you do not accept for whatever reason, your name will be moved to the next time period. If the second time your name comes up you also do not take the court, your name will be removed from the list. If you know you will not be taking the court when your name first comes up, please tell the court monitor ahead of time, as this will help them when assigning the courts. If you are on the wait list, you should check 30 minutes before the courts become available. If your name is close to being called, you should also check 15 minutes before the court becomes available, in case of a no show. If you are playing, your name may not be on the wait list.
10. No person may play more than 2 times per day, unless there are FREE courts available. On busy weekends or holidays you may be limited to playing once.
11. No person may play in back-to-back time slots, unless there are free courts after their time is up.
12. Courts #3 and #6 are teaching courts. Instructors have full rights over these courts during designated teaching hours.
13. Any Club tournament, party or activity takes precedence over reservations.
14. Any questions, interpretations, or applications of these rules are at the discretion of the Tennis Chairperson, Tennis Committee and the Tennis Pro.
15. The Tennis Committee with the approval of the Board of Directors can change, eliminate or amplify the Tennis Rules. Any changes will be posted prominently.
